Virtual Reality Research Assistant
**Location:** Dallas, Texas
**Compensation:** $25 per hour, part-time
**Schedule:** 15-25 hours per week | Flexible schedule with some travel required
**Position Summary**
The **Virtual Reality (VR) Research Assistant** will support immersive learning and simulation-based research projects focused on law enforcement and training. This role involves hands-on management of VR simulation technology, data collection through video recording, and data management for research and evaluation purposes.
The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, technologically adept, and able to work independently in both academic and field settings. This position requires flexibility in scheduling and occasional travel between the client and the Dallas Police Department Training Academy.
**Key Responsibilities**
**Immersive Learning Technology Management (25%)**
+ Set up, manage, and provide technical support for virtual reality simulation systems during training sessions.
+ Ensure VR technology functions smoothly during data collection and training exercises.
+ Collaborate with research staff and trainers to maintain and improve the immersive learning environment.
**Data Collection (25%)**
+ Set up and manage video recording equipment for skill evaluation sessions.
+ Support accurate and secure data capture during participant trainings.
+ Maintain organized systems for storing and labeling collected data and recordings.
**Data Management (25%)**
+ Implement standardized data management procedures, including data transfer, validation, cleaning, and reporting.
+ Maintain accurate documentation and assist in preparing progress or summary reports.
+ Work collaboratively to ensure data integrity and compliance with research protocols.
**Additional Duties**
+ Provide general research and administrative support to the project team.
+ Attend project meetings and assist with logistics related to technology or data handling.
**Qualifications**
**Education:**
+ Bachelor's degree required (in a related field such as Education, Computer Science, Psychology, or Health Sciences preferred).
**Experience & Skills:**
+ Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
+ Experience with or interest in virtual reality and simulation-based learning tools.
+ Basic familiarity with data collection and management best practices.
+ Knowledge of any programming language is a plus (e.g., Python, C#, or Unity).
+ Strong organizational and communication skills.
+ Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and manage multiple priorities.
**Work Schedule & Environment**
+ **Hours:** 15-25 hours per week.
+ **Data Collection Days:** Typically 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. (approx. 8-hour shifts, schedule determined by research partner).
+ **Non-Data Collection Days:** Flexible scheduling, to be agreed upon with supervisor.
+ **Work Locations:** Partially at the client site and the Dallas Police Department Training Academy.
+ **Travel:** Occasional local travel between sites required.
