Job Description

Saalex is seeking a Senior Neural Network Engineer in Bethesda, MD to support NSWC Carderock’s requirements for engineering, IT, and technical support for data analysis, software development and modifications, control system development, IT and Information assurance (IA). The work performed will be in support of various projects related to surface ships, submarines, boats and combatant craft, air vehicles, other vehicles going through air and/or water, associated trainers and simulators from any of the above, and IT infrastructure.

Senior Neural Network Engineers apply the theories and principles of science and mathematics to research and develop economical solutions to technical problems. Their work is the link between perceived social needs and commercial applications. Engineers design products, machinery, implement improved ways to extract, process, and use raw materials, such as petroleum and natural gas, develop new materials that both improve the performance of products and take advantage of advances in technology. Engineers analyze the impact of the products they develop or the systems they design on the environment and on the people using them.

In addition to design and development, many work in testing, production, or maintenance by supervising production in factories, determining the causes of breakdowns, and the testing of manufactured products to maintain quality. They also estimate the time and cost to complete projects.

Position Type : Full-Time

Salary: $143k - $206k annually (depending on experience)

Work Location:  Onsite. Candidates are required to work onsite full-time in Bethesda, MD.

Requirements

Required:

  • Master's Degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Software or IT discipline, Engineering, or Mathematics.

Desired:

  • Ph.D. Degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, Mathematics, or Computer Science.
  • Twenty (20) years of experience in neural network research and development. The 20 years of experience shall include experience in all the following:
  • Experience shall include designing and developing artificial intelligence algorithms such as neural networks, fuzzy logic and data fusion methods for advanced diagnostic systems or ship control systems applications, including development of digital twins of marine systems.
  • Analysis of nonlinear maneuvering characteristics for both surface ships and submarines.
  • Development and implementation of advanced neural networks for real-time nonlinear simulation and control of submarines and/or surface ships at both model and full scale.
  • Development of 6-degree of freedom nonlinear modeling and simulation of 2D and 3D dynamic stall, computational fluid dynamics, plant models, fault detection, isolation and reconfiguration, and unsteady fluid flow.
  • Development of computational tools to predict complex nonlinear hydrodynamic behavior.

Security Clearance:

  • Active Secret clearance required. Requirements to obtain a clearance include US Citizenship, security investigation, etc.

Education/Experience:  

  • Master's Degree from an accredited institution in Computer Science, Software or IT discipline, Engineering, or Mathematics.
