Summary

Department: A&G/ HR

Reporting to: Director of Human Resources

Job Purpose

Duties & Responsibilities 

  • Recruitment: Ensure that the recruiting, application, screening, interview and hiring process for all candidates is carried out in accordance with the hotel policy and procedures, and the local, state, and national laws.
  • Performance procedures: Ensure that all performance procedures and established standards are followed.
  • Benefits administration: Administer all employee benefits in accordance with established procedures and maintain benefits records.
  • Reports: Ensure all bi-weekly/monthly/quarterly reports are sent regularly and in a timely manner. This includes amongst others: New Hires, Terminations, Worker’s Compensation, Employee Status, Benefits.
  • Employee engagement: coordinate and attend all employee relations functions and social events.
  • Coordinate employee requests, questions, and concerns.
  • File maintenance: Maintain and keep all employees file ensuring compliance with the local and federal laws.
  • Payroll: validating hours and attendance, reconcile discrepancies, scheduling deductions, processing all incentives and bonus payments, upload ACH and check files to BOA and CSG and summarize payroll totals for DOF.
  • Cash: Audit cash revenue in excel from all F&B outlets and Front Office transactions, investigate any shortages or overages and coordinate with the Finance Department to make adjustments.
  • Distribute paychecks.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Understanding: Ability to read, comprehend and carry out instructions according to established procedures.
  • Comprehension: Fluent in the English language.
  • Organizational Skills: Work efficiently, utilize multi-tasking, prioritize tasks.
  • Hygiene and Sanitation: Adherence to uniform, grooming and personal hygiene standards and expectations per Standard of Operating Procedures.
  • Punctuality: Adherence to posted schedule and arrival time and attendance at mandatory meetings Responsibility: Personal comportment in line with Standard, New York policies, standards, and expectations.
  • Can maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Strong communication and management skills, with an emphasis on strong written communication.
  • Guest & employee service oriented.
  • Minimum 3 years in Human Resources experience, with 2 years as a Human Resources Manager.

  • Able to work seated and/or standing for a minimum of 8 hours per day.
  • Able to work with a computer performing input operations for a minimum of 8 hours per day.
  • Periodical bending, kneeling, and stretching.
  • Able to pull, push, carry and maneuver at least 50 pounds.
  • Must be able to seize, grasp, turn and hold objects with hands.
  • Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
  • Remain in stationary position for extended periods of time.

Knowledge & Skills:

  • College degree
  • One (1) or more years of experience in Human Resources.
  • One (1) or more years of experience in Payroll.
  • Background in hospitality.
  • Knowledge of government labor regulations.
  • Knowledge of employee benefits processing.
  • Knowledge of Worker’s Compensation administration and compliance.
  • Knowledge of OSHA requirements and compliance.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English. Multilingual is a plus but not required.
  • Satisfactorily communicate with guests, employees, and management to their understanding.
  • Proficiency with computers.
  • Ability to multitask, work independently and to partner with others to promote an environment of teamwork.

Desirable

  • Degree in Hospitality Management or Human Resources Management.
  • Multi-lingual (emphasis on Spanish).
  • Basic knowledge of Ultipro.
  • Basic knowledge of Unifocus.

Other:

  • Ability to speak publicly / remain composed while addressing gatherings and large meetings.
